Mer!Lupin/Mer!Snape dolls...

I decided to make a line of HP Mer-people dolls and just finished Mer!Lupin.  I don't normally squee over my own creations but I really adore this guy!  He came out so open in his expression--a warm personality but still private.  Ok...maybe I'm reading a bit too much into this? o.0  Anyway...here he is in all his wolfy splendor.  For you Snupiners I posed him with Snape in a few shots.  They look so nice together!

Note:  This is a bit of a self-pimp.  I make custom dolls along with my costumes so I'm open to commisions--any character.  (I can make them with legs btw--I just don't like to make the tiny clothes!)

Oh...and I think there may be a doll tea-party being formed for Azkatraz.  I'll let you know if I can get more details.

Yikes!  One more thing...These guys are anatomically correct in the man-bits department.  I'll include a pic but last time I got busted.  We'll have to see...  *crosses fingers*

Here he is in a natural environment, ready to slip back into the water after sunning himself.

A close up.  I may place the scars differently next time.

Don't they look nice together?

There may be something wrong with me that I like this shot so much!

Man-bits.  Shhhh....

OMG they are adorable together! I just love Severus's scowl. The hair on their chests-I see Remus's as a heart and Severus's as a cross, and somehow I really like it. YAY man-bits!

Hey, ya know...I never noticed the heart/cross bit before. You're right.

Thanks for looking again. Hope the man-bits stay up this time. lol!

I think they just grind up some narwhal tusk. Snape is good at that shit.

Oh fuck! I just noticed the quote-back as I was pressing the post button. I swear to God, I didn't do that on purpose! *snicker*

Good thing I wasn't drinking at the time. I almost snorted up my guts!

(Man, am I crude, or what?)

Yay for anatomically-correct dolls! These totally win, I love them. Their tails are so gorgeous (Snape's looks for shiny!) and the chest hairs! *squee* So awesome~

Hee! Thanks! I have fun choosing the material for the tails. At first I was intending to use the same for all the characters but that didn't leave much leeway for personalizing them. Snape's velour tail has some sheen to it. And some sequins--I add quite a few extra though. Lupin's tail is a mottled corduroy. I thought that was appropriate for our cardigan-wearing wolf!

Thanks again for the squee!

Double Cuddles!
[info]slashpine
2008-11-16 12:05 am UTC (link)
Love, love love!

Your Remus is adorably creative! His hair, the multiple colors and textures that remind one so of a wolf's brindled coloring and double coat - but are also so very Remus, too. Love the hairline, the broad brow, the whole shape of his face.

And his slight smile. Modest, unassuming, easygoing, always ready to hope, just like the Remus we love. Especially, the Remus we love to pair with Snape. (Has to be easy-going, given snarky Snape, lol)

Your color and fabric choices are wonderful, so very Remus, and such a lovely complement to Snape's. And his chest fur! ROWR. Rub up against that, Sev. :D

Even his codpiece-jewelry looks somehow perfectly fitting for Remus. It has a plain sturdy outline, like he does, but the Asian-looking design has a Sekrit Dark Arts kind of feel I think, as though it's got talismanic powers only a merwolf wizard would know. (OMG, a merwolf! You and your fiber creations are one big bunny factory.)

Also, I have to add epic apologies here... I totally fail at posting my love 'n' squee pics of my very beautiful own Sea Prince. *hangs head* RL has been eating me like a manticore all fall. My gorgeous Sea Prince has been glaring at me for days with arms crossed, from a position ensconced on a big stash of sexy sea-colored and glittery yarns. I owe him a silken cloak... and to the wee wibbly drabbles I was inspired to write by his snarky, slithery sea-prince self.

Le Sigh. Hopefully after next week's massive travel-conference-paper stress, life will be more bendy - like your lovely dolls. :D And I will be 'in position' to get back into the swim (ow, I can't stop) with IJ.

Oh, and I hope the man-bits stay up this time, too. LOL

See -- I don't even have my own Sea Prince icon yet! I stole yours. *flails*

(Let it be noted to any lurking readers that I *bought* my gorgeous Mer!Snape, which everyone should srsly get one too. MerPotter dolls are LUV. Spidermoth is creativity on a Firebolt. And yeah, the doll teaparty at Azkatraz is gonna happen - iz on to-do list!)

OMG, woman! If you weren't on the other coast, I'd come over there and hug you right now! You absolutely win at the best comments EVAR! mmmmggwah! *blows kisses*

Yay! You liked mer!Lupin's expression! But let me fess-up...all those things you see in Lupin's expression, are things I saw too but found too hard to say about my own work. Truly, a craft-muse visits me sometimes, and did on these dolls. I adore them! And I adore making them individuals by choosing tail fabrics, and cod-piece charms, and hair yarn--its the best part. I could probably bore the leg off a chair with the hows and whys of each choice. hee! Just a warning, in case you slip up and ask. *wink*

Hey, don't even think about apologizing for RL stuff. I got a glimpse of how commited you were to election-related activities, especially with your students and work. I'm glad that came first--it needed to. No worries. Once you get bendy life back we can plan Azkatraz doll parties!

*smooches you*

Aw, they're so adorable! It's nice to see that mer-Snape has his mer-Lupin now! ^_^ I love the the little details you put into the doll, like Lupin's scars and his gray-streaked hair--there's even a bit of gray in his chest-hair, too!

And the, er, rear-view shot of them is very cute! ^_^

Wow, these are great!

(Here via [info]slashpine, who is doing some major squeeage in her journal over how wonderful these are... so I slipped over to take a peak and I have to say she seriously underdescribed how absolutely fantastic they are.)

There's so much detail and they're so cunningly made and Mer-Snape has wee nipple-rings... oh, they're lovely.

Oh thank you for the compliments. (I love that you called them "cunningly made"! hee.) Making characters we know is fun. It's the first time I've done that. I just made a few more to show at Azkatraz. I'll post the pics soon. Maybe you'l be there?

Thanks for stopping by! (I'm on a campaign to recruit /p as my marketing manager, btw!)

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, I did have fun making all the choices for each doll. That's my favorite part--trying to make them individual and show the character. I'm rather fond of my mer-men. *wink* It makes my day that you took the time to let me know you liked them too!
