OMG! You have to go check this out! Two artists gained permission from JKR and Warner Bros. to use HP trademark images and recreated props to create a Diagon Alley in one of their homes! It's fantastic! And....It's near enough (Elkins Park, PA) that I can go see it!! The purpose is to raise $$ for charity. Check out the website--YOU WILL BE AMAZED! The viewing event is scheduled for two days over Halloween--Oct 31st and Nov 1st.
GO LOOK!!!!!!!

Just finished up a Moaning Myrtle robe and realized I have enough fabric to make another one-- medium to large. I'll post around, but if anyone knows anyone... *bats lashes*
Email me if you want pics--I don't want to broadcast before Azkaban and spoil the effect for the one who commissioned the 1st one. *g* kissmacabre AT gmail DOT com

Hola, flist! A 'fly by' post to self pimp that I have a window of time to squeeze in a few more costume commisions before Azkatraz. If you know anyone interested, feel free to point me out! *g* I do custom--whatever you want. (within reason, of course!)
Off to sew...

I decided to make a line of HP Mer-people dolls and just finished Mer!Lupin. I don't normally squee over my own creations but I really adore this guy! He came out so open in his expression--a warm personality but still private. Ok...maybe I'm reading a bit too much into this? o.0 Anyway...here he is in all his wolfy splendor. For you Snupiners I posed him with Snape in a few shots. They look so nice together!
Note: This is a bit of a self-pimp. I make custom dolls along with my costumes so I'm open to commisions--any character. (I can make them with legs btw--I just don't like to make the tiny clothes!)
Oh...and I think there may be a doll tea-party being formed for Azkatraz. I'll let you know if I can get more details.
Yikes! One more thing...These guys are anatomically correct in the man-bits department. I'll include a pic but last time I got busted. We'll have to see... *crosses fingers*

Here’s my submission (finally!) for alienor77310 in the Snapedom Summer Exchange Fest. I chose to create a doll since costumes and dolls are what I do--my OTP! This project was a joy, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I'd love to know what you think... Title: Snape as a mer-man Warnings: general man-bits Author's notes: I had been intending to make a Snape mer-man, so was thrilled that one of the artses Alienor gave as a prompt was just that! Go here to see her wonderful art!
It was fate—I’m sure of it! *g*
I took liberties with the hair. My merpeople all have long hair—the mermaids, down to their tails. (…the flipper ones, you naughty things!) Here’s my little swish and flick… He’s about 12” overall height.

Just passing on that I have a slice of time between shows to take on a few costume commissions for the Portus 2008 convention this July(?). E-mail me at kissmacabre(at)gmail(dot)com for particulars if interested... May the Schwartz be with you! (Oops! Sorry...wrong fandom!)

| HP movies |

I know this may be weird but I hadn't seen all of the HP movies (only the 1st 2) so I watched OotP last night to get some peeks at the actors who hadn't shown in the 1st 2 flicks, and more screen time for the actors I like. I know some of the casting choices influence fanfic and art.
Here are my thoughts on this movie...
I found it strangely dissatisfying because of the frantic pace. I know, I know...there's a lot to cover, but even with the constraints of packing such a large and action-centric story into a 2 hour movie, I found this one to be really frustrating. I work theater so I'm somewhat familiar with the choices made to highlight certain aspects and cut what doesn't fit the vision, but really!... Some of the scenes just went on and on, and some of them were so short it felt jarring. And, of course, it seemed to be biased in favor of special effects over characterization, although the moments with Dumbledore, Sirius, and Lucius were among some of the best. Actually, now that I'm writing this, there were great moments with the twins, and Luna, and Hagrid. And the amount of time with Ron and Hermione was pleasantly balanced with the other events. Hmmmm.....maybe I like this more than I thought. Maybe sometimes I just have to get rid of my expectations and be more objective.
Here are some random peeves though...
Rickman not only got almost no screen-time, but he looked dreadful. He's almost disturbing my mental image of the character. Plus, I especially hated how physical he was with Harry during Occlumency lessons. That just seemed OOC to me. I loved though, how he played his being interrogated by Umbridge in his classroom (even though I would have said that was OOC), and the scene where he told her he was out of Veritaserum! Hee! Excellent.
Why is Harry looking so put-together in this flick? He's supposed to have crazy hair and ill-fitting clothes. Must the movie industry insist on making lead characters (male or female) beautiful? Frankly, one of the things I've always admired about British films and TV is the normalcy of the look of their actors, but it seems there's a higher calling to create a sex-symbol when its a blockbuster film. In canon, Harry is somewhat ill-kempt. He's supposed to elicit our allegiance and empathy through being a waif, not through sex-appeal. (Well, maybe I'm the only one being affected? Maybe no one else thought he looked too hot! I guess my libido is showing! *grin*)

Hello flist! Just quick note to let you know I'm working on a charity fundraising drive. A friend of mine was inspired by Oprah Winfrey's "Big Give" and she brought a team of us together to see what we could accomplish! We have a week to go on our big push and I wanted to tell you about it, and see if you could help. We're hoping to have word of our project spread so that if many people give just a little, it will add up to a lot! If you are willing to donate even a few dollars it would go a long way. We have an on-line service to take our donations (see cut) to make it easy. Please also, if you are willing to forward this information on, we can really get the word out! Any help you are willing to give is greatly appreciated. Let me know if you have questions about this, or would like more information. I'm always glad to share my excitement! When I clear a few items off my projects list I'll post an update.
Thanks for taking the time to listen! Disregard if this is not your cup of tea.
btw...I'm checking to see if "First Giving" will do currency exchanges for those outside of the US. Spidermoth

OMG! Tweak just said "Weasleycest is best!" bwahaha!
Last week he said "Trust Snape."
"Shhh..." *whispers* "I think they know we're here..."
And for something only marginally related...
I posted my first fest story to Phoenix Flies and was e-mailed back that there were some formatting errors. Have no idea what they are but I always have posting problems and it pisses me off. I'm gonna get this though--I'm nothing if not stubborn. Grrrrr! I think if I follow RTFI protocol (read the fucking instructions) it may help. *g*
Wish me luck...

Well, this is my first post to IJ. Just want to do a test to see what everything looks like. I don't have any userpics yet but will work on that soon. IJ doesn't seem to give the free account users much in the way of customizing the look of the journal. Might have to up-grade once I decide if I like the product. Feedback would be nice but I don't have any friends yet!lol! Will work on that too!
ttfn....
